The importance of brand consistency

Like we said in why you don’t own your brand, branding’s a bit of a tricky one.

Check it out, we explain why your brand isn’t just a logo.

But in this post, we explain why brand consistency will help your brand grow.

By getting your customer experience, customer service, touch points, all consistent, and in alignment, you can begin to communicate your core products, demonstrate your core values, and why they should choose you over the rest.

Ensuring your brand message, and visual identity are clearly, and consistently reinforced across all communication channels will only strengthen your brand trustworthiness, loyalty and recall.

This isn’t to say that you have to have one design and stick with it. You can keep it interesting across all marketing collateral, maximising each tool for its original purpose. As long as it is all in alignment, speaks with the same tone of voice, and is under the same brand identity, you can’t go too far wrong.

When it comes to keeping your identity consistent, we talk about logo, tone of voice, use of brand colours and fonts, and overall style.

You’ll be able to tell if something is ‘off’.

Brand Guidelines are often used to keep the use of brand assets on track, and stop new designers going off and using their own style.

Things move quickly nowadays, it’s not uncommon for an idea to be thought of and to be completed within a day. And when things get rushed, it’s likely it hasn’t been checked for brand consistency.

Is this consistent with our other marketing? Does it communicate the right message? Does this help the brand positioning we want to build?

Overall, the more consistent your message, the more consistent your brand within the minds of your consumers.

Your brand should be referral ready, by having a clear message and a strong brand will make it much easier for the consumer to spread the word.

If it keeps changing, your message will get distorted, and your brand fragmented.

And we don’t want that do we?
