A logo that looks fine on a screen does not always translate well onto fabric — fine detail can be lost in embroidery, and certain colours behave differently in print versus stitched thread. Workwear design covers adapting a logo and branding so it reproduces cleanly across polo shirts, hi-vis clothing and uniforms.
Embroidery in particular has real physical limits that a digital logo doesn’t — very fine lines, small text and subtle gradients that read clearly on screen can blur together or disappear once stitched at a small size, so logos with this kind of detail often need simplifying specifically for embroidery use. This is a separate design pass from the standard logo files, tailored to what a needle and thread can actually reproduce rather than what a screen can display.
Colour matching also needs its own approach, since thread colours are limited to a standard range and won’t always match a brand’s exact printed colour, while garment printing methods behave differently again depending on the fabric being used. Working out the closest practical match before production avoids a mismatch being discovered only once a full run of garments has already been produced.
Placement and sizing are considered per garment too — a logo positioned well on a polo shirt chest may need adjusting for a jacket, hi-vis vest or cap, so each application is checked individually rather than assuming one placement suits every garment type. For production once artwork is ready, see our clothing, workwear and uniform page.
Businesses branding staff uniforms, hi-vis workwear or promotional clothing who need their logo adapted properly for fabric rather than applied as-is.
Embroidery and garment printing have real physical limits that a screen design does not — thread count, stitch density and fabric texture all affect how a logo actually looks once applied. Adapting the design in advance avoids a disappointing result on the finished garment.
